Toast/Disc Burning

Disc Burning Using Roxio Toast
Archive images and other information permanently to CD-R/DVD-R media.  Follow these exact steps in order to alleviate any potential problems with buffer underruns, and corrupt information resulting in non-functional CD's.

Discs can be formatted to accomodate both the PC and Mac platform. These dual platform CD's are known as "hybrid" CD's.

* File names are automatically truncated to 8 characters for a PC format.

Burning information to a CD-R/DVD-R:

1.  Create and prepare a folder inside the Documents folder on the computer hard drive. Place images and/or information from Zip disks, etc. into this folder.

* Be sure to eject Zip disks to avoid confusion and buffer underruns.

2.  Launch the
Roxio Toast software and choose to create a Data CD. Select to prepare a Mac OS CD if the disc is to be read only on a Macintosh. All file names in this format will remain untouched (not truncated). Drag the prepared folder from the Documents folder directly into the application window area.

* For use on both a PC and a Macintosh, choose the Mac OS and PC (Hybrid) CD.

Drag Files and Folders

3. Once the folder has been dragged to the application window, go to the File menu and Save As to the Documents folder.

* Be careful not to Save As directly into the prepared folder for burning.
